Hi, I'm Becca. I have an overactive imagination.
And I see design as the ultimate form of storytelling. As a visual storyteller, I use my overactive imagination to turn words into optically delicious morsels that immerse readers. For the past few years I have worked in publication design, with additional experience in infographics compilation and design, copy editing, advertising design, and marketing and branding.
Currently I am a deputy design editor for Gatehouse Media's News & Design Center based in Austin, Texas. Here, I where I work with editors to funnel my creativity into designing dynamic front pages and features covers for papers around the nation. Before that I spent a year as a page designer/copy editor for the Victoria Advocate in Victoria, Texas.
I graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Television, Radio and Film, where I learned to further explore the wide world of storytelling. I spent the majority of my four years at Syracuse working for The Daily Orange, the city's student-run newspaper, where I started as a designer and eventually took over as presentation director. I coordinated the design staff, oversaw the visual identity of the paper, planned story packages, and collaborated with other student editors, writers and photographers on special projects.
